What are you doing to prepare for the most important holiday of the year? As Advent prepares us for Christmas, Lent prepares our hearts and minds to celebrate Christ’s resurrection at Easter. Lent begins Wednesday, February 17!
Healing Waters International provides quality resources for you and your church, small group, or family to observe the season through Significant Sacrifice: An Easter Journey. This Lenten project includes a compelling devotional with weekly readings, reflection questions, and prayers designed to focus our attention on Christ’s ultimate sacrifice while encouraging us to share Christ’s concern for the poor.
In addition to the devotional guide, other materials are available to help you promote the project: a poster, bulletin inserts and a pledge card. Significant Sacrifice details:
- Beginning the Sunday before Lent, go through Healing Waters International’s Significant Sacrifice devotional guide with weekly devotional readings, reflection questions, prayers and songs. Use the weekly devotionals to help you reflect on the meaning of the season and encourage one another.
- During Lent, choose one activity to either begin or end for the season, until Easter. For example, you can give up coffee, refrain from shopping for non-necessities, or commute to work by bike. Keep track of the monetary value of your sacrifice.
- After Easter, celebrate together as you bring the offerings you have collected as a result of your personal sacrifice during the past weeks. Donate the money you save through your sacrifice to help share the joy of Christ’s resurrection. Healing Waters International will use your gifts to help give safe water to those who thirst.
