2009 Transformation Trips
Chiapas, Mexico: August 5-9, 2009
Come to Chiapas, Mexico where 17 systems are currently serving more than 30,000 people with their daily drinking water. In addition to visiting HWI water projects, you will volunteer in one of the communities where we work. Everyone is welcome to participate - no special skills or experience are required!
This trip is a great opportunity to see the work of Healing Waters. Seeing the needs, connecting with the community and taking a hands-on approach to serving and experiencing the transformation that Healing Waters can bring is a life-changing opportunity. In addition to the volunteer work, here are some of the things you can expect to experience:
- Visit Healing Waters projects and learn how the water gets purified and how the projects are managed
- Talk with pastors about the impact of their water projects in the local community
- Enjoy a meal in the home of a family who gets water from one of our projects and learn about the challenges in their lives and the conditions in which they live
- Meet our local staff and get to know them (they're wonderful!)
- See some interesting cultural and historical stuff
We know many of you are very busy and can't afford much time away from home and work, so trips are designed to see a lot in a short amount of time. If you'd like to extend your trip to do more local sightseeing, we can help you with planning and arranging for transportation, activities and accommodations.
Cost for the trip is not yet determined, but will likely be between $600 - $800 per person which will cover meals, ground transportation, lodging and a donation to help purchase supplies for our volunteer work. Airfare (typically $500-700 from Denver) is not included in the trip price. We'll stay in comfortable, safe and clean accommodations, travel with caution and eat food that is safe. We'll also provide you with all the clean water you can drink - no charge!

Transformation Trips - General Information
As part of our relational ministry, donors are encouraged to visit a water project. Seeing the needs, connecting with the community, taking a hands-on approach to serving and experiencing the transformation that Healing Waters International can bring is a life-changing opportunity for our partners. Giving gifts to someone with whom you’ve developed a relationship can be a great way to express love, and safe water is a vital gift.
In addition to visiting Healing Waters International projects, trips provide an opportunity to experience the natural beauty and people of the countries.
- Visitors volunteer at schools
- They see our water projects
- Our ministry partners share about the impact of their water projects on the community
- Visitors enjoy a meal in the home of a family that receives water from Healing Waters International, learning about challenges in their lives and conditions in which they live
- Local staff share about serving the community
- Visitors learn about the culture and history of the country
Trips are coordinated through Healing Waters International and are designed to see a lot in a short amount of time, usually five days including travel time. Generally cost is approximately $600 including all meals, hotel and ground travel but not including airfare. We plan for six trips a year and send from one to four Healing Waters International headquarters staff on each trip. Our in-country staff is your host during your stay.
